Eating By Season with Erin Gleeson in Northern California
In 2011, food photographer Erin Gleeson found herself transplanted from a New York City apartment to a cabin in the woods of Northern California. Inspired by local, seasonal ingredients in her weekly Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) box, Erin began creating photographic recipe illustrations and launched her beautiful site, The Forest Feast.
Erin Gleeson has photographed for magazines, cookbooks, top chefs, restaurants as well as The New York Times Dining section and The James Beard Foundation.
We asked Erin if we could share a seasonal dish of hers for each month of the year. All of her creations are healthy recipes that anyone can make—dishes that are easy enough to make after a long day at work, yet impressive enough for a party. Here they are, starting with April… (Click on the photos to view them as a slideshow with captions)Visiting Northern California? Erin also shared her favorite spots for eating eating and drinking with friends.“When friends come to visit our neck of the woods, we take them for brunch at Alice’s Restaurant, a hike at Russian Ridge followed by wine tasting at Fogarty Winery. We might also taste some cheese at the Harley Goat Farm in Pescadero, followed by afternoon coffee and art gallery browsing in Half Moon Bay. We then drive up the coast to San Francisco for dinner at Locanda or Cotogna.”
